Fabrication & Profiling

The use of compressed air and Nitrogen in plasma cutting, laser cutting and laser welding is normally the second largest energy consumer on a production line.

This technology is particularly applicable to stainless steel and Aluminium processing.

Because our compressor systems are significantly more efficient than twin stage rotary screw compressors (which would normally be installed), we have an opportunity to help our customers reduce their overhead costs significantly.

If you would like more detail, please fill in the free site assessment form (link below) and we will get in touch to discuss your site.

Plasma Cutting

Nitrogen is used in plasma cutting of stainless steel and aluminium profiles, to achieve:

Cleaner cut edges

Faster processing

Reduced heat damage

Plasma cutting requires <100PSI, 98-99.999% purity – depending on edge cutting requirements.

Oil Free compressed air is also used in plasma cutting, with most operations using pressures <100PSI.

Our system can be adapted to provide on site nitrogen and compressed air to these applications.

The improved efficiency of our system reduces overhead costs and energy bills - especially if Nitrogen is currently being delivered to site on a regular basis.

Laser Cutting

Laser cutting of common grades of stainless steel and Aluminium normally requires Nitrogen of 99.99+ purity at a pressure of  150-450 PSI or 10-30 BAR.

The use of Nitrogen:

Prevents oxidation

Ensures clean cut edges

Improves cutting speeds

For laser cutting applications, our system would normally include a PSA adsorption Nitrogen generator and pressure boosting equipment.

For these components, we use established, reputable suppliers who have years of experience supplying industry, to ensure reliability and availability of spare parts.

Laser Welding

Laser welding is becoming much more common, with new equipment rapidly being integrated in the market and displacing existing welding techniques.

Welding of the most common grades of stainless steels requires nitrogen of 99.9% to 99.999%, with a relatively low supply pressure.

In these applications, on site nitrogen generation can be used to avoid the costs associated with Argon deliveries.

The benefits of our system are biggest when there is also compressed air being used for other processes on site, and where continuous production is an important factor.
